Kurdish names

In § 16 of the Turkish
law on National Registration as well as in §§ 5 and 7 in the Ordinance on family names,
people are forbidden to bear their proper Kurdish names.
The citizens of the
Turkish Republic are thus deprived of their right of names.
We offer a selection of
Kurdish names, as a support to parents who still wants to give their children Kurdish
names.
In alphabetical order, we
present a total of 1904 boy’s names and 2141 girl’s names.
Names that can be used by
both boys and girls are marked with a (*).
We refer to the books we
have used to produce this collection of names.
Parents who choose a name
for their child through this section can send us information on which name they chose. If
they so wish they can also send a picture of their child. We want to create a special page
for these children, and also send them a birthday gift!
We will gratefully accept
comments on this section. |
